ALLIED DONATES 21,000 FACE SHIELDS (PPE) IN THE BATTLE AGAINST COVID-19

BACK TO BLOG

On April 2, Allied Printing Services launched our initiative to manufacture PPE face shields to donate them to hospitals and first responders in our local community. The initiative grew exponentially and by early May, we exhausted our supply after shipping 21,000 face shields to hospitals, assisted living & behavioral health centers, ambulance corps, visiting nurses, police & fire departments, pharmacies, food pantries, funeral homes, universities, rehabilitation centers, healthcare & dental offices, veterinary hospitals, corrections corps and more. While most of these destinations are in Connecticut, we responded to outreach from as far as California, Texas, South Carolina and New Hampshire.

It has been the goal of our President & CEO, John Sommers, “to be a part of the solution in our collective response to this pandemic”. Our employees jumped on the opportunity to give back. In classic Allied fashion, every department came together as a team to respond quickly. In under one week, we developed a prototype using substrate on hand with a simple, effective solution to affix the headband, finalized the design to fit our capabilities and face shields were in production. Over the next three days, we created an online ordering portal for ease in placing orders, publicized the link, set up an administrator and rapid fulfillment shipment process to get these into the hands of our healthcare workforce quickly. The outpouring of gratitude from our community was so rapid, genuine and heartfelt, we’d like to share a small sampling of their comments.

Thank you to all for letting us help support you – the front line heroes – and for your efforts in keeping our loved ones safe and healthy. It is YOU who deserve our thanks for making such a difference in the lives of many.
