When the COVID-19 pandemic began in winter 2020, the Allied Printing Services Charitable Foundation looked for creative ways to give to our local community. We knew we were in a unique position, supported by the powerful manufacturing resources of Allied Printing Services. In early April we launched our charitable initiative to manufacture face shields, donating all 21,000 to our front-line heroes by early May. Our second charitable initiative has taken a very different direction!
For children and parents navigating their way through a completely new and upside-down lifestyle, we wanted to find some way to offer a fun, educational activity while “sprinkling a little sunshine” in their lives. The Brighter Days Activity Book was born! Designed for young hospital patients, non-profits providing support in the areas of academics, behavioral or emotional regulation, and the neediest and most vulnerable of children, all 56 pages are full of puzzles, games, and jokes, from vintage favorites to brand new fun. The book even features a poster-size heart-shaped “Thank You” coloring page to show appreciation for essential workers and caregivers. We developed it so that kids in the 5-to-12-year age range can engage on their own or with the company of a sibling, friend, counselor, or parent. From the Allied family to yours, we hope that you find adventure, smiles, and maybe love for a new or renewed activity in the pages of this book.
The Allied Printing Services Charitable Foundation is a 501 © (3) private foundation founded in 2007 to honor the memories of those we have lost in the Sommers family. Every year, we proudly support four hand-chosen organizations whose philanthropic efforts mirror our Foundation’s wish to improve the lives of others: The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, Connecticut Children’s, Cushing Academy, and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
