How Is Allied Printing Reducing Its Environmental Impact?

BACK TO BLOG

At Allied, we’re dedicated to reducing our environmental impact while delivering the highest quality print solutions. We’ve implemented best practices to support green initiatives across our manufacturing processes.

Back in 2015, Allied installed one of the largest rooftop solar panel arrays in Connecticut. With 4,592 solar panels, this 1.4-megawatt system supplies up to 15 percent of our total electricity usage, replacing traditional grid power with clean, on-site renewable energy from the sun. The environmental impact? It’s equivalent to taking 222 cars off the road annually. Complementing this, in 2023, we added our 700kW fuel cell which converts natural gas and air into electricity through an efficient, combustion-free process. Together, the solar array and fuel cell provide approximately 75 percent of the facility’s total electrical energy needs, ensuring a stable and sustainable power source.

But that’s just the beginning! We demonstrate our commitment to eco-friendly practices by maintaining a clean plant environment, supported by a filtration system that ensures paper-dust and powder-free air. Plus, we recycle press-wash chemicals daily and use vegetable- and soy-based inks—making every print project a greener choice.

It’s clear from these initiatives that we’re serious about protecting the environment. Our certifications reinforce this commitment, as we follow environmental management systems that improve efficiency and reduce our ecological footprint. Some of our certifications include ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and FSC Certification.

Now that you’ve seen some of the steps we’re taking at Allied to preserve our environment while providing exceptional print products, you can see that sustainability is always on our minds. We’re proud to partner with clients who share our values and are always looking for new ways to innovate and reduce our footprint. Let’s work together to create print solutions that make a difference—for your business and our planet.
